The G5 also retains the button on the left side of the viewfinder that allows you to do this manually. The screen itself is hinged at the side and so can be positioned facing in any direction including downwards for overhead shots and forwards for self-shooting, though, probably the two most often-used positions for this kind of screen are folded in for protection or reversed like a conventional fixed screen. The screen is 3: On the right side of the screen this space is used for some touch Panasonic DMC-G5 Digital Camera which appear in a docking strip.

All other information is displayed overlayed on the image though you can switch the configuration for both the EVF and LCD screen so the exposure details are displayed below a reduced image area. The display Panasonic DMC-G5 Digital Camera toggles between two overlays — with information and without, plus either of those options with a two-axis level.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-G5 Review & Rating

Additionally, there are two programmable screen function buttons labelled Fn4 and Fn5 which by default activate the level and a repositionable live histogram. Panasonic Lumix G5 lens and stabilisation The Lumix G5 is available as body only or in a Panasonic DMC-G5 Digital Camera with several lens choices.

This powered zoom, announced in Augustwas the first zoom for a compact system camera that was itself compact, rather than a slightly smaller version of a DSLR kit zoom. While previously you needed to attach a pancake prime to a compact system Panasonic DMC-G5 Digital Camera body to make it pocketable, you now had the same degree of portability with a standard zoom. Aside from the micro four thirds metal mount, the lens is constructed from high quality plastic. Image quality on the G5 was generally excellent, though the quality of any camera's images depends of course on several factors, most prominently the sensor and the lens. I'm not particularly fond of zoom lenses with small maximum apertures, especially those not offering a constant aperture while zooming, as I like to shoot wide open to control the depth of field. Note that images in this review were taken with v0.

The kit lens reveals incredible detail on this close-up shot of a spider, and renders the background nicely out of focus, considering its small aperture. Color fidelity is good with the G5, and all but the strongest highlights of the chrome don't blow out, thanks to the camera's metering capabilities. Apologies for the poor focus That, of course, is one of the advantages of working with a standard Panasonic DMC-G5 Digital Camera Micro Four Thirds MFTas there are lots of lenses available. On the flip side, as one of the HD series lenses from Panasonic, the "Power Zoom" kit lens performed well in video, and the silent internal motor reduces noise picked up by the microphone making it an excellent choice for video work. The side-mounted zoom switch is much nicer than a body-only zoom solution or a manual zoom ring as it's able to be racked during video recording without jumping or stuttering.

Image quality with the kit lens is decent, though not as good obviously as the high-end MFT lenses. Like with all small sensors the G5 has a good amount of noise in low-light and high ISO shots, but that's unavoidable.

Panasonic Lumix G5 review - Cameralabs

See the crops from our test images below Panasonic DMC-G5 Digital Camera comparisons of high ISO shots taken with sharp prime lenses. While there is some noise here at a higher ISO setting, it is still a good indoor shot. The G5 boots up instantly, going from sleep to shooting in the blink of an eye.

Particularly when shooting with slow SD cards, though, the camera didn't shut-down nearly as quickly. The downside to this Panasonic DMC-G5 Digital Camera that the camera doesn't retract the Power Zoom lens into the barrel until the camera has emptied the buffer.

Warranty & Support

I'm not sure why this is the case -- it seems that the lens could easily retract while the buffer was still being written out to the card -- but it Panasonic DMC-G5 Digital Camera that in a few cases I had to wait to put the camera into its case or into my jacket pocket. That shouldn't be an issue with the standard kit lens.

It's perhaps one of the most powerful video capture devices you can stick in a pocket. Well, a coat pocket, at least. Strangely the G5 has Panasonic DMC-G5 Digital Camera audio-in jack, one area where Panasonic didn't improve over the G3.
